Playing with my beads...Ivy with Honeycomb Jewels

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • Honeycomb Jewel beads "Senegal Purple"
  • SuperDuo beads "Crystal Violet Luster"
  • O-Bead "Metallic Mix"

I blogged about the "Ivy" bracelet with regular Honeycomb beads HERE and I've also made an "Ivy" bracelet in a similar colorway before HERE. This time I used the new Honeycomb Jewel beads and they work very nicely with the pattern.

Download our free "Ivy Bracelet" pattern from THIS post. You can get the Honeycomb Jewel beads at QueenCityBead on Etsy, HERE. Red Panda also has them in a few colors.

MORE LUNA ROSA BRACELET MOTIF SAMPLES

I showed you a couple of sample motifs of Carol Ohl's "Luna Rosa Bracelet" on Friday, HERE. While looking at Carol's photo, I realized that I had most of the bead colors that she used to make her turquoise bracelet. So, I made three more sample motifs and this time I connected them as directed by the pattern. It's obviously not a complete bracelet but I have an idea now of what the bracelet would be like. The effect would be as if you had sewn the little roses onto a strip of ribbon. The band is very soft and flexible. Although the roses look kind of chunky, they're actually rather light.

I had all of the same beads that Carol used except for the 2mm ivory fire polished beads. So, instead I tried some 3mm beads. They actually work quite well and help cover the holes in the Crescent beads a little bit. The 3mm round beads look better than the fire polished beads which are a little too angular looking.

  1. I'm liking the more subtle colours in the honeycomb jewel beads and love what you've done with the round beads combined with crescents because they do seem to hide the holes . Really had to smile about your 'macaroni' comment regarding one of the new shapes of bead!!

    1. Hopefully they'll come out with some more colors in time for Christmas and not just those boring pastel colors.
